The first 9 week quarter ended October 15th. Quarter 1 grade reports will go home with students on Oct. 22nd.
*God's Pantry Food Drive is happening at SMS! Students can bring cans or dry food items and place them in the barrel every morning in their complex.
*Spirit Week! October 20 – 24
October 20 – Red Out Day  (Wear red to support Red Ribbon Week.  T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies are  allowed but the rest of the Dress Code applies)
October 21  – Crayola Day    (Wear all different colors of clothing.  T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies are allowed but the rest of Dress Code applies)
October 22 – Twins Day Wednesday T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies are allowed but the rest of Dress Code applies) 
October 23 – SMS Spirit Day  (T-shirts, sweatshirts and hoodies allowed but rest of dress code applies)
October 24 –  Favorite Sports Team  (Tops ONLY and must have t-shirt on under jerseys.  The rest of the Dress Code applies)
* School Picture proofs were sent home with students. Orders and money are due to Front Office by Oct. 17th. Retakes must be approved by Front Office and will be taken Oct. 21st.
*Parent 411 Series: OCTOBER 21 - “Straight Talk for Parents About Drugs” - Comm. L. Weathers, Lexington Police Dept.  TCHS Auditorium  6:30 PM   Parent 411 Series Information sponsored by the FCPS Family Resource Centers.
*SMS BLOOD DRIVE: Monday, November 3 from 12 - 6 pm SMS library
* Spirit Days:  Whenever there is a HOME athletic event, we have a Spirit Day at school.   Students may wear SMS-issued T-shirts, sweatshirts, or hoodies.  The athletes playing in the HOME game that night are allowed to wear their team’s jersey (if sleeveless, a t-shirt must be worn underneath).  All other dress code rules apply.
* Scratch Programming club for students meets in the computer lab on Thurdays before school. See Mrs. L'Esperance for a morning pass. annie.lesperance@fayette.kyschools.us.
*Southern Films - Commercials: Southern Films can make commercials! If you own a local business and would like a television commercial produced for it, consider hiring Southern Films. For more information contact Mr. Keaton at duane.keaton@fayette.kyschools.us
*Intramurals began September 8th, Mondays 7:40 a.m. - 8:30 a.m. basketball, Wednesdays 7:40 – 8:30 soccer  See Mr. King for information.   Intramural Permission Slip
